鎌倉の姉妹都市でもある南仏ニースのカーニバルの様子をパステルで描いてみました。
世界三大カーニバルの一つでもあり、約1ヶ月間は昼夜を問わず山車を連ねた行列が、市街地を巡ります。これは夜の行列風景ですが、毎年思考を凝らした山車やステージは、春の訪れを待つこの地の人達の一大イベントとも言えるのではないでしょうか。

I drew a pastelwork of the carnival in Nice, South France, which is also a sister city of Kamakura.
It is one of the three major carnivals in the world. For about a month, a line of decorated scraptures go around the city day and night. This is a night scene and the floats and stages are very unique and I think it is a big event for the people of this area waiting for the arrival of spring.
