時を超えて、憧れを仰ぐ。 オマージュ元は、葛飾北斎「富嶽三十六景 御厩川岸より両国橋夕陽見」。 夕陽に染まる富士を橋越しに仰ぎ見た町人たちが、現代ニューヨークへとタイムスリップ。 目の前にそびえるのは燦然と輝く摩天楼、纏うのは星条旗をあしらった着物。 この情景を映し出すのは、日本神話の地・出雲で人間国宝が漉いた雁皮和紙。
 
民藝運動（Mingei movement）が称えた「用の美」を宿す伝承の和紙です。 江戸の人々と、今を旅する者たち。 時代は変われど、憧れを見つめるまなざしと、その構図の美しさは変わらない。

The work pays homage to Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: View of the Sunset from Ryogoku Bridge from the Banks of the Mimaya River."
Townspeople gazing up at Mount Fuji bathed in the setting sun from across the bridge are transported back in time to present-day New York.
Sparkling skyscrapers tower before them, and the people wearing kimonos decorated with the American flag.
This scene is captured on gampi washi paper made by a Living National Treasure in Izumo, land of Japanese mythology.
This traditional washi paper embodies the "beauty of utility" celebrated by the Mingei movement.
The people of Edo and travelers of the present.
Though times change, the gaze of admiration and the beauty of the composition remain constant.
