上野の国立科学博物館で「ミイラ展」が開催された折、入場待ちの列に並んでいたら、博物館裏庭のにある薔薇の花壇に、恰幅の良い白猫が出没、しばらくじっと佇んでいた。しばらくすると、この猫のつがいとおぼしき三毛猫が現れ、二匹並んで仲良さそうに日向ぼっこを始めた。どうやらこの裏庭は猫達のサンクチュアリとなっているようであった。

When the ”Mummy Exhibition” was held at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, I was waiting in line to enter when a large white cat appeared in the rose bed in the museum's backyard and stood still for a while. After a while, a calico cat that appeared to be the cat's mate appeared, and they started basking in the sun side by side, looking friendly. It seems that this backyard has become a sanctuary for cats.
